As a member of The Asia Group (TAG), you will innovate and implement policy-driven solutions to help Fortune 500 clients capture new growth opportunities across the Asia Pacific. Whether it relates to long-term trend analysis, breaking political intelligence, or interpreting complex current issues, you will be part of a fast-paced team that operates at the forefront of public policy and business. The Research Analyst role requires a strong foundation of experience in Asia-Pacific policy, either through government, the private sector, think tanks, or academia.

The Research Analyst reports directly to TAG’s Director of Research, and must demonstrate the ability to work within a team-oriented environment, collaborating with the firm’s leadership and staff to support all aspects of the firm’s client development and strategy execution. A successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the macroeconomic, political, and business environments in the Asia Pacific as a whole, and be able to distill these trends into actionable insights and strategic recommendations for clients across a broad range of industries.

Responsibilities Include:                   

  • Draft executive memoranda for both external (client) and internal (TAG) readership relating to political, economic, and industry trends in the Asia Pacific; and
  • Support the Director of Research in conducting fast-paced research, analysis, and editing.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MBA/MA or equivalent practical experience related to Asia Pacific policy
  • Outstanding research and writing
  • Demonstrated team player and strong communicator
  • Proficiency in Office 365

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of relevant work experience
  • On-the-ground work experience in the Asia Pacific
  • Experience in government or comparable experience demonstrating the ability to integrate public policy with corporate strategy

This is a three-month position with the possibility of extension. The position is full-time and offers a competitive salary commensurate with the candidate’s experience, and includes health, retirement, and other benefits. The Asia Group is looking for highly motivated candidates who either have or are working toward an MBA or Master’s degree in international economics, international relations, or a related field. Analysts work closely with Principal-led client teams and play key roles in supporting the firm’s research, analysis, and client engagement. The ideal candidate commands a strong understanding of macroeconomics, domestic and geopolitical dynamics, and business climates across multiple Asian markets.


For the fall period, analysts will be expected to commit 40 hours a week from September to December at our Washington, D.C. office. The position is paid and candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.
